Kobe Bryant Tried to Get the Lakers to Trade for Derrick Rose

Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant still saw Derrick Rose as a great player. According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, Kobe Bryant believed in Derrick Rose so much, that prior to his tragic death, he pushed the Lakers to trade for the former No. 1 overall pick last season.

Shelburne, appearing on the Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective podcast, said this was the only time  Kobe Bryant ever suggested to the Lakers’ front office in making such a deal.

“Before the helicopter crash, that was the only time I have ever heard — and I’m sure it happened more than I ever heard about — but this was the only time I ever heard Kobe make a little suggestion to the Lakers brass,” Shelburne said, as transcribed by Justin Benjamin of Lakers Daily. “He loved the idea of the Lakers trading for Derrick Rose or going to get him somehow.”

Derrick Rose deserves to win a championship, so that would have been a nice move for the former MVP.

Rose was recently traded to the Knicks, pretty sure he’s going to get his Chip there.
