John Calipari’s Kentucky Wildcats figured to have National Championship aspirations this March Madness after coming in as the two seed.
But thanks to one of the most stunning upsets in recent memory — they’ll find themselves packing after just one game.
In an OT thriller, the blue-blood program went down to little-known Saint Peter’s 85-79.

After the game, a clearly dejected John Calipari offered a message for his fans.
“I’m disappointed for our fans,” Calipari said. “They were shell-shocked like we were. We’ve got the greatest fans – we hate letting them down. I do as a coach, and I know these players do. This was really disappointing. Devastating.”

John Calipari had an up-and-down team in 2021-22, with them failing to click at the right time down the stretch of the season.
Star forward Oscar Tshiebwe held up his end of the bargain for the Wildcats — notching 30 points to go along with 16 rebounds. But with Saint Peter’s making clutch shot after clutch shot, it proved to be a night for the Cinderella.
So now John Calipari will hit the recruiting trail a lot earlier than expected. And as for Saint Peter’s, they’ll face seventh-seed Murray State in the Round of 32 on Saturday afternoon.
March madness is already off to an insane start…
