JJ Watt Goes On Tirade After Another Houston Loss

The Houston Texans lost to the Cincinnati Bengals 37-31 propelling Houston to a 4-11 record, the team’s worst record since 2017 when Deshaun Watson was just a rookie.

“Even when you’re trash, when you’re 4-11, if you can’t care enough to go out there and give everything you’ve got and try your hardest, that’s bullshit,” said an impassioned Watt during the post-game presser.

It’s been a nightmare of a season for Houston. After winning double-digit games in back to back seasons, the Texans went 0-4 before firing head coach and general manager Bill O’Brien. He was the only coach in franchise history to end his tenure with a winning record.

Despite the awful win-loss record, the Texans are sending two players to the Pro Bowl; quarterback Deshaun Watson and offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil. Watson is having a career year despite walking off the field with more losses than wins. He is hitting career highs in yards per game, touchdowns, completion percentage, yards per attempt and passer rating. He is also throwing interceptions at the lowest rate of his career.

Watt, meanwhile, has suited up for each game this season for just the second time since 2015. He has five sacks, seven passes defended, two forced fumbles, one interception and a touchdown to his name alongside 46 tackles and 12 quarterback hits.

As for the franchise, Sports Illustrated’s Jenny Vrentas and Greg Bishop dropped an in-depth story detailing Jack Easterby’s rise from a “character coach” at the University of South Carolina to rising all the way to Houston’s executive vice president of football operations.

Anonymous sources, who mostly tended to be former players and personnel, compared the franchise’s state to the HBO show, Game of Thrones. Easterby assumes the role of Little Finger, a character who creates chaos around him to rise through the ranks as quickly and efficiently as possible. Interestingly enough, this all occurred when the head coach was fired just a month into the new season.

When statements like this are coming out about your franchise, losing seasons are to be expected.
