James Harden Has Been Problematic Since Making His Return To The Rockets

James Harden reported to training camp a week late after spending time in Vegas. He has been practicing with the team for the past couple of weeks, but the environment has been very tense. Harden and his teammates have had multiple verbal confrontations in practice since Harden reported to the team on Dec. 8. One of the confrontations reportedly included James Harden throwing a basketball at rookie Jae’Sean Tate. Arguments can sometimes be a positive part of the practice as they yield competitive spirit, however, the ones involving Harden do not appear to be healthy for the team.

It seems like every day the James Harden trade rumors continue to boil up and this is even more of a reason for the Rockets to want to get rid of him. Having said that, Harden has two guaranteed seasons remaining on his current contract so it would take a great deal for another team to be able to match that. It is tough to let go of an all-star like James Harden but if he is toxic to the teams’ environment it may be their best course of action at this point.

The Rockets will begin their regular season with a home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. The team will likely continue to explore trade options, but not be too quick to make any moves without a great deal of consideration. The future of James Harden is unknown, but the rumors will persist until an inevitable move is made. In the meantime, just be excited that the NBA is back.
