Jake Paul Has Testy Exchange With Daniel Cormier At UFC 261

What a difference a week can make. Jake Paul stood tall atop the world of combat sports last weekend following his Round 1 TKO win over Ben Askren. One week later, he received anything but a warm reception at UFC 261 on Saturday night.

Paul, a YouTube personality turned boxing star, came face-to-face with former UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier at the UFC 261 event in Jacksonville, Florida. The two exchanged a few words, engaged in a heated staredown and reportedly nearly had a full-on altercation just before the main card action got underway.

This was the first UFC card held in front of a capacity crowd in who knows how long. The fans were rowdy all night long, and they weren’t having it with Jake Paul whatsoever.

Yes, your ears aren’t deceiving you. Those are in fact “F— Jake Paul” chants raining down from the sold-out crowd.

Daniel Cormier clearly had the full support of the fans in this little exchange on Saturday. Not too shabby for the former champion-turned-commentator considering he was no stranger to fan hatred during his career.

Here’s another angle of the encounter:

Insufferable is literally the perfect word to describe this Jake Paul guy. Definition from the Merriam-Webster dictionary for those who may need it:

Insufferable (adjective) — not to be endured; intolerable

Precisely.

DC clearly had it in for Jake Paul even before the altercation occurred. During the prelims broadcast on ESPN, Cormier stated that he would “slap him in the face”.

Well, no slaps were administered (unfortunately) on Saturday night. Paul’s social media team was quick to point out so much on Twitter.

Wow, is that really the best he had to offer? Of course, Daniel Cormier wasn’t going to slap Jake Paul upside his stupid face on Saturday. He had an epic UFC card to call. That said, it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see those slaps sometime in the future.

Perhaps they’ll happen in an actual ring and be accompanied by some fists too. Let’s just make sure to skip the horrendous Triller Fight Club pre-show entertainment this time guys.
