Ayo Dosunmu’s Chicago Draft Party Went Insane When He Was Selected By His Hometown Bulls

Illinois star Ayo Dosunmu was once projected as a first round draft pick. But during the NBA Draft on Thursday night, Dosunmu kept seeing teams pass up on him.

Pick after pick, fans were looking for Ayo to be taken. And he wasn’t.

The dynamic guard ended up falling all the way to the eighth pick of the second round, which conveniently happened to be held by his hometown and beloved Chicago Bulls.

They had no choice but to snag him.

Ayo Dosunmu was born in Chicago’s Morgan Park, and had a whole lot of family and friends attending a draft party in Chicago on Thursday night.

When Dosunmu was selected by the Bulls, the entire party went bonkers.

Shortly after he was selected, Ayo Dosunmu spoke on how he feels he should have been drafted much earlier. But he was ecstatic to be playing for his hometown Chicago Bulls.

“I know I’m a first-round talent, but you can never control what God has planned for you. He wanted me to play for my home city,” Dosunmu said.

During his time at Illinois, Ayo Dosunmu brought the program back from the ground up with coach Brad Underwood. The rebuilding efforts were culminated last season when the Fighting Illini won the Big Ten tournament and earned themselves a #1 seed in March Madness.

Ayo Dosunmu is already a legend in Chicagoland, and he may just be getting started.
