Bill O’Brien Got In A Heated Argument With J.J. Watt Before He Was Inevitably Fired By The Texans

Before Bill O’Brien was fired by the Texans he was reportedly involved in arguments with multiple members of the organization. J.J. Watt was part of a heated exchange with O’Brien on the practice field the week of the Steelers game. The Houston Texans announced on Monday that head coach O’Brien was fired after the Texans lost their fourth straight game to start the 2020 season.

According to Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, O’Brien also had an argument with defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver. But it didn’t stop there. The former Texans coach also had verbal altercations with other staff members during his final weeks as Head Coach/General Manager. O’Brien’s tenure as head coach started on a very positive note. He led the team to three consecutive winning seasons. Including AFC South titles in both 2015 and 2016. However, over the past year, O’Brien has made a bevy of questionable decisions as both a coach and general manager.

Jadeveon Clowney was traded to the Seattle Seahawks one week before the start of the 2019 season. Followed by DeAndre Hopkins being traded to the Arizona Cardinals in March. Hopkins was fresh off three consecutive seasons with a minimum of 1,100 receiving yards. Making him arguably the most dangerous receiving threat in the entire NFL. All of these things are not to forget about the blown 24 point lead in the AFC divisional game against the Kansas City Chiefs, due to several terrible coaching decisions by O’Brien.

Bill O’Brien went 52-48 during his tenure as the Texans Head Coach. So I’ll leave it to you to decide if J.J. Watt is justified in questioning his potential to run a professional football team.
