Greg Olsen Weighs In On The Russell Wilson Trade Talks

When the Russell Wilson trade talks first started buzzing, most people chalked it up as a rumor. The rumors started when Wilson voiced his frustration with the Seahawks’ decision to fire OC Brian Schottenheimer. The trade talks got real when Russell Wilson presented Seattle with a list of potential trade destinations. It became very clear that Wilson was at odds with his situation in Seattle. But trading him still seems like an asinine move by the Seahawks.

Russell Wilson’s former teammate, tight end Greg Olsen, weighed in on the situation. He seems to fully believe that Russ will remain in Seattle for the time being.

“I think that’s pie in the sky,” Olsen told Colin Cowherd. “I don’t think Seattle, you can’t take those odds. If you’re taking the odds today, he’s back in Seattle. They fix the things that they both agree on that needs to get better to push the organization forward.”

I am in the same camp as Greg Olsen on this one. I don’t think there is any way the Seahawks let Russell Wilson walk away from their organization at this time. If there is a score that needs to be settled I fully believe they will get it done. Trading away their franchise quarterback simply does not feel like the answer at this point in time, even if Russell Wilson is unhappy.

Greg Olsen only played one season with Russell Wilson, but it is clear he knows the caliber of player that he is. Despite his short time in Seattle, I think that Olsen understands how much the franchise values Russell Wilson. Letting him walk now just doesn’t make sense and, like Olsen, I don’t see it happening. Whatever needs to be fixed will get worked out prior to this next season. Hopefully, it is enough to make Russell Wilson happy with his situation.
