Carmelo Anthony Explains Why The Lakers Being ‘Old As Hell’ Gives Them An Advantage

Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James will finally be teaming up together next season.

Not only did the Lakers decide to add the aging Anthony in the offseason. But they also decided to sign veterans Russell Westbrook, Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard and Trevor Ariza to their already experienced roster.

During an appearance on “First Take” on Tuesday, Carmelo Anthony acknowledged that he has heard the criticism about the Lakers’ old roster, but he actually thinks the team can use it to their advantage.

“We old as hell. … [but] we have the most knowledge on this one team than the whole NBA has. So if we can’t put that together and make something work, that’s on us.”

Prior to his time with the Portland Trail Blazers, it looked like Carmelo Anthony’s career was winding down.

But after proving to be a valuable asset coming off the bench for Portland, he was somewhat of a high commodity on the market this offseason.

At this point of his career, it isn’t about money for Carmelo Anthony. This is about his legacy, this is about winning a ring. Even with their aging roster, LA gives Melo the best chance to ride off into the sunset with a trophy.
