Bowler Filled A Ball With His Dad’s Ashes Prior To Perfect Game

A bowler in Illinois had a unique way of honoring his father after his passing. He filled up a bowling ball with his ashes, and used it a little over a week ago.

John Hinkle is a two-time NCAA bowling champion from his college days, and has many perfect games. But rolling a 300 with his dads ashes hit a little different.

“I had tears in my eyes in the 11th and 12th frames. I couldn’t tell you where that last ball went, I had so many tears just throwing it,” Hinkle said via WMBD in Illinois.

Hinkle called his shot prior to the memorable perfect game.

“I was talking to my brother and told him, ‘I’m shooting a 300 with this ball,” Hinkle said. “And Joe said, do it!”

Hinkle says his dad died in 2016, but it has taken a few years to try to get his ashes into the bowling ball.

“It’s special. Dad shot 298, 299, never had a 300. I had goosebumps, chills,” John Hinkle said. “He was there. This is the best (300 game), and definitely the hardest. I was shaking.”
