Bizzare Power Outage In Malta Marks The Biggest Cliff-hanger In The History Of Football

A very unusual thing happened in Malta yesterday evening. You have a lot of guesses, I’m sure, but none is in the realm of what actually transpired in Ta’Qali.

It was that visiting Marsa FC led St. Andrews 2-0 in a Challenge League game, and the moment they got a chance to extend the scoreline to three from the spot, the Centenary Stadium was plunged into utter darkness!

The first picture below showed a Marsa player stepping up and attempting the penalty..

And then this..

Whether the ball went in or not, we might not know but referee Matthew De Gabriele called off the game at that moment, and the game which was already 62 minutes old has been postponed to a later date.

I don’t know why this should have happened in the first place, but I’m almost sure Marsa will not be pleased. Particularly not when a victory would have taken them top of the standings.

This has got to be the biggest hair-raiser in the history of football.
