After Becoming The Buffest Golfer Alive, Bryson DeChambeau Wants To Live To Be 130 Years Old

ESPN – The eccentric player known as “The Scientist” [Bryson DeChambeau] told GQ he hopes to live to 130 years old.

“I’m always trying to add more value to my life in general. I mean, my goal is to live to 130 or 140,” DeChambeau told GQ. “I really think that’s possible now with today’s technology. I think somebody’s going to do it in the next 30 or 40 years.”

“I always questioned everything,” he said “I didn’t have a lot of resources when I was young. I couldn’t go down all these roads with these questions that I asked at an early age. But now that I’ve been able to have some success, I’ve kinda gotten deep into most of these things and only taken what has added value to me.”

Fellow PGA pro Justin Thomas may have summed up people’s reactions to Bryson DeChambeau best:

Honestly this is kind of why I’ve loved Bryson DeChambeau since golf and I started to get a little more acquainted during quarantine. Yeah he’s abrasive and can come off like a jerk at times. And there’s almost definitely some broscience to him, as evident from his previous breakdown of The Bryson DeChambeau diet.

But it’s largely in his own quest to be the best. It’s all because he thinks he’s cut from a different cloth. And if that gives him the edge to notch millions in tournament winnings, as he’s done so far in a big way this year, then so be it. I’ll never question someone doing what they need to in order to be great when the results are actually there. Michael Jordan being toxically competitive? Sure. Tiger Woods running through your local diner’s waitress staff? Maybe better when single, but alright. Hell, Mozart cut off his damn ear because his brother got engaged. It’s a thin line between greatness and insanity.

So Bryson DeChambeau has some quirks and possibly scientifically impossible goals. If it pushes him to be great and excel relative to where he’d be otherwise, I get it.

Where I actually take issue … in this year, 2020 of all times, this is the moment you decide you want to live for another century? I mean, this year has already felt like 15 years rolled up into one. And now that we’ve learned we can basically catch the plague even though we have such lush, technologically rich lives, who knows how bad it could get even if the world keeps blooming? A hundred more years of that? Hard pass, kind of a crazy person move to want that.

Who knows, maybe with all his mystical powers and curiosity Bryson DeChambeau knows more than all of us. Best wishes to the man in all his hopes and dreams even though a century of yelling at cameramen seems like too much.
