Jordan Binnington Explains Why He Chucked Water Bottle At Nazem Kadri

While Nazem Kadri and the Colorado Avalanche secured another thrilling victory in the NHL Playoffs on Tuesday night, Jordan Binnington and the Blues are still sulking over what transpired last series.

During a hard rush to the net, Kadri got tangled with Binnington — causing the goalie to suffer a leg injury that would keep him out for the remainder of the series.

So when Nazem Kadri was in the middle of an interview after the game, Jordan Binnington hauled a water bottle at him from afar.

During the end-of-season media availability, Jordan Binnington explained why he decided to take his anger out on Nazem Kadri in that moment.

“So I went to get my knee checked out in-game,” he said via NY Post. “I was coming back to the rink, the game just ended, walking down the hallway, couldn’t find a recycling bin on my way down the hallway, and right before I walked into the locker room, I see him kind of doing the interview there, smiling, laughing and I’m there in a knee brace limping down the hallway.

“I felt like it was a God-given opportunity,” Binnington continued. “I don’t know, I could stay silent and go in the room or I could say something and have him look me in the eye and understand what’s going on, something to think about. I threw the water bottle — an empty water bottle. It landed like two feet from him. It is what it is there.”

“It is what it is there. I mean, but it is what it is. It’s hockey and it’s a competitive game. So … that’s it.”

This isn’t the first of the bad blood between Nazem Kadri and Jordan Binnington. Last season, the goalie was given a 10-minute misconduct penalty when throwing his stick at the Avs forward during an altercation.

Even though the Blues desperately missed Binnington towards the end of their series with Colorado, the Avalanche have proven all season long that they’re the far superior team — and now have a golden opportunity to win the Stanley Cup.

Something tells me Nazem Kadri isn’t losing sleep over the Jordan Binnington water bottle situation.
