Zach Wilson Injury: Jets Reveal Timetable After QB Limped Off Field During Preseason Game

The New York Jets received some bad news surrounding young quarterback Zach Wilson during their first preseason game.

During the first game against the Eagles, Wilson limped off the field an headed straight to the locker room during the game.

Today, it was reported that Zach Wilson suffered a bone bruise, and he’ll likely miss 2-4 weeks. It remains uncertain if the QB will be good to go for Week One of the regular season.

After Zach Wilson went down, Jets coach Robert Saleh spoke on the possibility of having backup Joe Flacco see some action.

“You guys know how I feel about Joe — everyone does, the whole world does,” Saleh said Friday night to ESPN. “Joe’s a phenomenal football player. He’s having a great camp, and he’s got a lot of juice left in the tank.”

Earlier in the offseason, Robert Saleh was trending after giving very high praise to the veteran Flacco.

“He could start in this league. I believe that,” Saleh said when asked about having an experienced backup QB. “Sometimes, this league has a tendency to pigeonhole people or put labels on people, and their opportunities get limited. But Joe Flacco is a starting quarterback in this league. He’s really, really talented.”

By all indications, Jets fans should feel some relief in the fact that Zach Wilson avoided serious injury, and will likely be back out on the field before no time.

But if Robert Saleh’s words mean anything, perhaps the team could be OK if Joe Flacco has to play under center during the regular season.
