Ryan Tannehill Sends Message To Malik Willis Following Controversial Comments

Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill is under fire this week over comments made about newly-drafted quarterback Malik Willis.

When asked about the team drafting his potential replacement, Tannehill made it clear that he has no interest in ‘mentoring’ the young Willis.

“I texted Malik right after we drafted him as well. I have no problems with Malik. We’re looking to add talent and guys that can help us. We’ll add him to the room and go from there. That’s part of being in a quarterback room, in the same room, we’re competing against each other, we’re watching the same tape, we’re doing the same drills. I don’t think it’s my job to mentor him. But if he learns from me along the way, then that’s a great thing.”

After many people were calling out Ryan Tannehill, he sent a message to Malik Willis on social media.

“Welcome to the squad!” he tweeted.

Shortly after Ryan Tannehill’s comments about Malik Willis, Hall of fame quarterback Kurt Warner lashed out at the veteran QB.

“I will never understand the “I’m not here to mentor the next guy” mentality
so for all you young QBs that need a mentor, DM me & Ill be that guy, happy to help in any way I can!” Warner said on Twitter.

Robert Griffin III also took issue with Ryan Tannehill’s initial comment about Malik Willis.

“It’s not in @ryantannehill1‘s job description to mentor @malikwillis. But as the Quarterback of the team, it is YOUR JOB to lead everybody. Saying you won’t help a young player adds unneeded tension to the locker room. Help the next guy and let your play decide who the future is,” Griffin wrote.
