Pittsburgh Steelers Reveal Mitchell Trubisky is Starting Quarterback in First Official Depth Chart

Time for some Mitch-a-palooza.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have kept us guessing all preseason long on who would end up being their starting Quarterback for week 1, and now they have finally named a starting quarterback for Week 1. While Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has yet to publicly speak on a winner of his team’s quarterback battle, the Pittsburgh Steelers did release their official Week 1 depth chart on Monday. Former Chicago Bears starting  QB, Mitchell Trubisky, is listed as QB1 ahead of Mason Rudolph.

Rookie Kenny Pickett is listed as third on the depth chart.

Trubisky was also named a captain for the Steelers matchup  against the Cincinnati Bengals, which pretty much cemented his starter status.

Mitchell Trubisky has  been the favorite to start at QB1 since they acquired him, but things got a little murkier when they drafted Kenny Pickett. Mason Rudolph also got in the way of the Steelers naming a starter earlier in the preseason. Trubisky signed a two-year, $14 million free agent deal before they drafted Kenny Pickett in the first round. Mike Tomlin likely does not want to immediately turn to a rookie quarterback as he tries to right the ship following  Big Ben’s retirement, which makes total sense.

Interestingly enough, the biggest surprise is that Mason Rudolph is listed ahead of Kenny Pickett on the depth chart.
