Despite being an assumed trade piece for the entire offseason, Jimmy Garoppolo remains in San Francisco. And for now, the trade market appears relatively dry for his services.
But one team who might still be looking for their next quarterback continues to be linked to Jimmy G: the Carolina Panthers.
When speaking recently, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer said that he believes the Panthers would much rather land Jimmy Garoppolo in a trade rather than Baker Mayfield.
Albert Breer seems to believe that if the Panthers draft an OT at 6, they could look to trade for Jimmy Garoppolo after the first round.
He thinks that Baker Mayfield would be redundant to Sam Darnold and the Browns are pushing more for it than the Panthers are.

By all accounts, it would seem that the Panthers are content going through with the NFL Draft next week, before seeing if there’s a need to add a QB after that.
But being as they have the sixth pick in the upcoming draft, many are expecting them to reach on either Malik Willis or Kenny Pickett.
Still, the Panthers might decide they want to bring in Jimmy Garoppolo while also grooming a rookie quarterback. If the price for Jimmy G is low enough, that is.
