Texans Rookie John Metchie III Receiving Well Wishes Following Leukemia Announcement

Houston Texans rookie John Metchie III now has a long, unexpected road to recovery ahead of him.

Earlier today, Metchie announced in a statement that he has been diagnosed with leukemia, and expects to miss all of the upcoming season.

The Texans released a statement Sunday from WR John Metchie III announcing the rookie has been diagnosed with acute promyelocytic leukemia, "the most curable form of leukemia."

John Metchie III now has some terrible news to deal with after what should be his first season of a successful career in the NFL.

During his days at Alabama, Metchie was consistently lauded for his locker room presence as well as his prowess on the field.
