Drew Brees Teases Possible Comeback Following News He’s Out at NBC

Is Drew Brees ready for his big comeback?

The New York Post’s Andrew Marchand reports Drew Brees is out at NBC.

Legendary NFL quarterback Drew Brees will not return to NBC after just one season as a studio and game analyst, according to sources.

The decision seemed mutual as Brees preferred doing games over the “Football Night in America” studio show, and NBC didn’t have many NFL games to offer him. NBC soured on Brees’ potential after originally believing he could develop into the heir apparent to Cris Collinsworth on “Sunday Night Football” games.

Brees tweeted an update Sunday night, striking down the notion that he’s done at NBC, and also keeping the door open that he could make a comeback.

“Despite speculation from media about my future this fall, I’m currently undecided. I may work for NBC, I may play football again, I may focus on business and philanthropy, I may train for the pickleball tour, senior golf tour, coach my kids or all of the above. I’ll let you know.”

NBC Sports’ Peter King reports  “There’s a chance FOX could throw Brees a lifeline and put him on one of its broadcast teams. … It’s still possible but unlikely that Brees could keep his Notre Dame analyst job. … if he doesn’t find a home at another network doing games, he could choose to continue in the lesser Notre Dame role and not in the NBC Sunday night studio.”

Last year Brees called Notre Dame games with Mike Tirico. He also did the “Sunday Night Football” pregame and a few NFL games.

NBC Sports declined comment. Last time Drew Brees played, his arm looked pretty washed.

But so did his hair, so who knows, maybe he’s discovered the fountain of youth.
