Dodgers’ Trevor Bauer Files Defamation Lawsuit Against Prominent Publication

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer has been out of the league since allegations of sexual assault stemmed from one of his hookups.

But recently, the lawsuit against him was dropped. And while the MLB is committed to their own, separate investigation, Bauer is ready to take on some of the people who painted him in a bad light over the past year.

Specifically, Trevor Bauer has taken aim at The Athletic and reporter Molly Knight.

Per The LA Times:

“Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer filed a defamation lawsuit against the Athletic and one of its former writers Tuesday, alleging “a campaign to maliciously target and harass” him.

The complaint, filed in United States District Court in Los Angeles, claims the website and the writer, Molly Knight, published knowingly false information about Bauer online and on Twitter “with hatred, ill will, and spite, with the intent to harm Mr. Bauer or in blatant disregard of the substantial likelihood of causing him harm.”

Trevor Bauer previously filed a similar lawsuit against the publication Deadspin, and their managing editor.

The last time we saw Bauer pitch in the MLB was June 28 of last season, and while the investigation against him continues, he remains away from the Dodgers.

“I never assaulted her in any way, at any time,” Bauer said when pleading his innocence earlier in the year.

While it seems like a long shot that Trevor Bauer will get his justice against The Athletic for their reporting, it seems likely that we’ll see him back in the MLB at some point this season.
