Aaron Boone Has Officially Lost His Patience Amid Yankees Miserable Stretch

Through the Yankees’ dismal month of August, manager Aaron Boone has been relatively calm. But that ended today.

After the team’s 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays today, Boone went on a full rant about the recent play of his squad.

“We gotta play better. Period,” Boone said following the contest, according to ESPN’s Marly Rivera.

“And the great thing is, it’s right in front of us. It’s right here, and we can fix it. … It’s there, and we can run away with this thing. We’ve got the dudes in there to do it.”

Aaron Boone even channeled his inner Dennis Green with the slap of the table mid-rant. But it’s hard to blame him for letting his frustration boil over.

After having one of the most potent offenses all season long, the Yankees bats have gone awfully quiet as of late.

In the month of August, they’ve managed to score just 58 runs thus far while slashing a putrid .216/.289/.356 as a team. Their offensive disappearing act is the core reason for their MLB-worst 4-14 month so far.

“If we don’t score, it’s tough to win,” Boone said bluntly after today’s game.

Despite his whole rant today, Aaron Boone has exerted plenty of confidence that his team will find their form again prior to the postseason.

“You pour a lot into trying to shake hands at the end of the day, and we’ve been able to do that on balance on a really high clip this year. We’ve hit a rough patch and we’ve got to dig ourselves out,” Boone  said yesterday, via ESPN. “We can sit here, and I can keep answering questions and talk about it … but we’ve got to go do it. And the good news is we’ve got all the pieces in that room to do that. I know that’s coming. I know it’s going to happen, but it really sucks going through it.”
