Even after receiving heavy backlash for his comments on the Saudi-backed LIV Golf tour, Phil Mickelson still decided he was going to take the money — announcing this week that he was leaving the PGA to join forces with LIV.
In a long statement, Mickelson tried to convince fans that the decision was about more than just money but overall growth of the game of golf.

Phil Mickelson has had a lot of backlash for his comments, as well as leaving the PGA after all these years. But in the end, money talks; and Mickelson got too much than he could turn down at this stage of his career.
Joining Phil on the new tour will be the likes of Sergio Garcia, Dustin Johnson, Kevin Na, Louis Oosthuizen, etc.
The LIV Gold tour has taken plenty of flak, but we’ll see if they can quiet the critics by actually offering a decent fan experience.
Phil Mickelson will most definitely hope so.
