MLS returns in the coming weeks and players have started to report for the MLS Is Back Tournament that’s slated to run from Disney from July 8th to August 11th. And while the joy of futbol is there for the players, the enthusiasm for MLS’s obscenely overpriced menu may not be.
Here’s what Toronto FC and US Men’s team defender Omar Gonzalez posted from their bubble at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Bay Lake, Florida:

The sadness of that food likely needs no enlargement. But here’s a closer look at the menu:
Some quick math: If every player ate all the meals each day, that’d be $185 per day. For 36 days, that’s $6,660. Here’s another lunch from fellow Toronto FC defender Eriq Zavaleta:

Say what you will about the NBA bubble and their guys having their own concerns. But you know the food will be decent and also 100% comped. MLSers meanwhile get the full five star Fyre Festival treatment, including a complete lack of Ja Rule. And the food isn’t even free! It’s South Beach hotel prices for a sandwich that a divorced parent would make for a child they didn’t want custody of.
Here’s hoping that “char grilled Angus skirt steak” for dinner isn’t just a burnt White Castle’s burger without the bun.
