Stephen A. Smith is being ripped to shreds over his latest got take — this one pertaining to Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.
According to Stephen A, Tomlin is lucky that he’s in Pittsburgh, because any other organization would have fired the future Hall of Fame head coach by now.
“Does anybody doubt that if Mike Tomlin was not in Pittsburgh, would he be a head coach in the NFL right now? He would have been fired,” Smith said. “Tomlin would’ve been gone because he’s been on the hot seat before and he had no business being on the hot seat. I’m just using him, who’s a winner in my mind, one of the best coaches in the NFL, and I think a future Hall-of-Famer. 15 years and never a losing season in his coaching career. Mike Tomlin, one could easily argue, if he were not in Pittsburgh, he would’ve lost his job already.”

Fans had a mixed reaction to Stephen A. Smith’s Claim about Mike Tomlin given the current disparency between black and white coaches around the NFL.
Not a single losing season doesn’t mean shit. Not being bad doesn’t mean you were good 🤣 this the same Tomlin who got out coached by John fox and lost to Tim Tebow in a playoff game with the #1 ranked defense

As a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers myself, you're 100% correct.
The consistency the Rooney family has provided the organization has served it well. https://t.co/QL7C5pzOnu

MT hasn’t had a losing season in his entire CAREER, that’s why he still has a job. MT also is know for being a terrific players coach, and Flores was know for treating players like dog shit inside the building. The only thing linking these cases is skin color, a disservice to MT. https://t.co/k9nxlHaY15

While many points in Stephen A. Smith’s rant are valid, you have to acknowledge that Mike Tomlin has won at an impressive clip throughout his entire tenure.
Tomlin has set a record with 15 consecutive season with a .500 record or better. He’s 154-85-2 over his career. And has won two Super Bowls with Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers.
It’ll be interesting to see what ends up happening in Pittsburgh now that Big Ben is no longer under center. But they should find some solace in the fact that they have one of the very best coaches in the league in Mike Tomlin.
