Rob Gronkowski was convinced out of retirement last season by the allure of playing with Tom Brady once again, and not having it be with the New England Patriots.
With that being the case, it was widely assumed that Gronk would either be playing alongside Brady next season, or decide to walk away from the NFL again. According to new reports, that wasn’t the case.
Apparently, Rob Gronkowski was intrigued by the idea of returning to his hometown Buffalo to play with the up-and-coming Bills.
According to NFL Network’s Michael Silver, “Before re-signing with the Bucs, Rob Gronkowski considered a similar offer from the Bills… his hometown team. I’d expect the Bills to add a tight end at some point.”

It was reported last offseason that the Bills were in the market for a veteran tight end, as well. In fact, Greg Olsen admitted that his 2 options for his last NFL season came down to the Seahawks and the Bills. Ultimately Olsen picked the Seahawks.
Now, the Bills are missing out on Gronk one-year later.
As Michael Silver noted, the expectation is that the Bills will fill their void at the tight end position at some point this offseason. We just won’t get to see Gronk jumping through tables in Buffalo, and that’s a damn shame.
