Watch: Footage From Tony La Russa’s DUI Arrest Has Been Released

Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa was under fire this offseason after it was announced that he had a DUI in Arizona in February of 2020.

La Russa was immediately scrutinized when documents revealed that he told officers that he was a “Hall-of-Fame baseball person”.

Now, the video from the arrest has been obtained by WGN Chicago.

At first, Tony La Russa tells the officer that he had not been drinking, and blames a hip replacement for failing a field sobriety test.

Tony La Russa then tells the officers that he’s ‘with the Angels’ and ‘legitimate’.

Tony La Russa worked as a senior adviser for baseball operations with the Angels in 2019-2020 before agreeing to become the next manager of the Chicago White Sox at 76-years-of-age.

While Tony La Russa has been heavily scrutinized for his old-school approach to the game during his return to the Sox bench, it hasn’t been all bad.

La Russa’s White Sox are currently an impressive 33-21, and 3.5 games ahead of the Indians for first place in the AL Central.

Hopefully La Russa hires a driver for when he goes out drinking in Chicago.
