This Great White Shark Breaching Video Is The Scariest/Most Amazing Thing You’ve Seen All Day

It shouldn’t be physically possible for an animal that weighs over a ton to launch itself out of the water to catch prey. But that’s what great white sharks do. The feat is called breaching. Great white sharks do it in order to catch fast-moving prey. Sharks can reach up to 40mph and launch up to 10 feet in the air. It’s rare because it costs a lot of energy for a great white to breach. But when they do, it is both terrifying and extremely impressive.

I’m sure I’m alone in this, but when I saw this great white breaching video I immediately thought of Rams DT Aaron Donald. The man is 6’1″ weighing in at 284lbs and he runs a 4.6 40-yard dash. That should be impossible for someone that large. Just look at this dude.

In the same way, a 2000lb shark should not be able to launch itself 10 feet out of the water. It just isn’t fair. And as cool as it looks, it’s terrifying.

After thinking about Aaron Donald my mind went to hockey mascots. There are the Sharks in San Jose, the Vancouver Canucks (which is apparently a Canadian racial epithet?), and now the Seattle Kraken. Those are some pretty vicious mascots. I couldn’t help but start thinking about who would win in a fight. The Kraken, if real, would be massive. The Canuck is allegedly racist, so we’ll avoid that. Which leaves the shark. All I know is that anything that gets breached by a great white shark isn’t going to live to tell the tale.
