The MLB Owners Have Approved A Proposal For The 2020 Season To Present To Players’ Union

“MLB owners have approved a proposal for the 2020 season to present to the players’ union, source tells The Athletic. Meeting expected between union and league tomorrow.”

It’s not a slam dunk that the MLB will return in 2020, but this is certainly an encouraging step in the process of getting players back on the field, and hopefully safely and quickly. There was some question about whether there would be a war between the players’ union and owners, but that may not be the case. Most parties appear to be working together , but there’s obviously things that still need to be sorted out. Where will the players play? Will they be locked in a bubble for the duration of the (shortened?) season? How many games will they actually play? What’s the protocol if/when a player tests positive for COVID-19? What about a universal DH to protect pitchers that have less time to prepare for the season than normal?

Lots of hoops to jump through, but it can’t hurt that the owners and players are set to meet tomorrow.

Baseball’s Woj, Jeff Passan, said “we’ll know soon enough if baseball is actually coming back” confirming Rosenthal’s report.

With MMA back, even with a positive COVID-19 test the night before the fight, and NASCAR set to return this weekend, could the MLB be the next American sport that returns? We may know in the next few days whether or not we’ll see Mike Trout hitting bombs, Max Scherzer throwing gas, and myself donating in the DraftKings and FanDuel MLB lobbies this summer.
