Tampa Bay Lightning fan’s have a lot to be proud of. Their team finally won the Stanley Cup after being one of the best teams in hockey for the past six years. OK, I’ll admit it. It’s pretty badass that the Lightning got to celebrate on the water with jet skis and boats. That’s a clever way to make a 2020 championship celebration work. But c’mon Florida, can’t you guys just wear the mask, it’s not that hard.

Some people were wearing masks, but it didn’t look very socially distanced out there. I’m also not seeing many masks from the people sitting around the boats.

I’m not going to lie and say I wouldn’t be out there if one of my teams won the championship, though. It’s exciting, and you never know when the next time will be that you can celebrate one of your teams winning a championship. We have to relish that, even in 2020. It’ll be interesting to see how the celebrations will work for the NBA and MLB. My guess is that it’ll be even harder to make those parties CDC appropriate. Maybe those cities can take something away from the Lightning’s celebration to help make it work.

It’s a weird year when we have to condemn hockey fans in Florida, but with the way this whole year has gone, nothing comes as a surprise anymore. Tampa Bay is a hockey town now, I guess.
