Byron Leftwich Comments On Rumors Of Tom Brady Retiring After The Season

At 44-years-old, Tom Brady is still one of the best (if not the actual best) quarterback in the entire NFL. But still, as every season winds down, fans want to question: will this be it for the GOAT?

Former Patriots teammate Rob Ninkovich threw gasoline on the fire when he declared on ESPN’s “Get Up” that he wouldn’t be surprised if Brady hung up the cleats after this postseason run.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if Tom Brady decided to walk away (this offseason) and do whatever he wants to do,” said Rob Ninkovich on ESPN’s Get Up. “Right now, Tom is in bonus time. How many 44-year-old quarterbacks have we seen throw for the amount of yards and touchdowns? He’ll be 45 in August. So, at this point right now, what else does he have to prove to anybody? What else does he have to check off the list?”

Tom Brady’s offensive coordinator, Byron Leftwich, was asked about the retirement rumors. And he gave a pretty telling answer.

“Tom’s playing at a high level, man. I’ll leave it at that,” Leftwich said.

Byron Leftwich’s comments go along with the general assumption that, no, Tom Brady will not retire just yet.

TB12 still has one more year left on his Buccaneers contract. And he’s made subtle comments in the past that he’s targeted his age-45 season for when he might consider calling it a career.

Something tells me Tom Brady wants to walk away after at least one more Super Bowl Championship under his belt – which might just occur this year.
