One Very Hot Bet of Late is on a Receiver You’d Never Think Of

When it comes to betting, sometimes you can’t bet on the established star.

Especially at the wideout position, which often sees players making huge leaps from year 2 to  3. Plus these days rookie wide receivers can come right out of the gate and put up big numbers.  That being said,  the player that is seeing a ton of action is heading into his fifth season.  And that player is Green Bay Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard. Last season Lazard finished with 40 receptions and 8 touchdowns in 15 games.

His longest touchdown was 42 yards according to Pro-Football reference.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize why he’s suddenly a hot bet.  Aaron Rodgers’ favorite target, Devonte Adams, has left Green Bay to buddy up with Derek Carr in Las Vegas for the Raiders, leaving Aaron Rodgers with a major hole at the WR1 position.  Enter Lazard, who is getting a ton of action right now.

“One VERY hot bet of late at Caesars Sportsbook –Allen Lazard to lead the NFL in receiving yards. On July 28, Lazard was 200/1. Now he’s 75/1. Over that span, he’s first in tickets (14.0%) and handle (36.0%). Overall, Lazard ranks ninth in tix (3.8%) and sixth in handle (4.3%).”

2022 will look much different for the Green Bay Packers wide receiving core, but knowing Aaron Rodgers, he’ll be able to make one of his wideouts a top tier fantasy stud.

Currently DraftKings has Lazard’s season long receiving yard prop at 750.5 yards.  With Davante Adams’ 1,500 yards and 170 targets gone, Lazard’s target share is bound to go up.

One interesting stat, since Aaron Rodgers has been the starter, he’s never had a No. 1 receiver finish the season with less than 800 yards.

Food for thought.
