Takk McKinley Calls The Atlanta Falcons Clowns For Not Trading Him

Falcons defensive end Takk McKinley is in the fourth and final year of his rookie contract. The Falcons declined his fifth-year option, so he’s set to become a free agent in March. McKinley wants out of Atlanta bad, but as the trade deadline has passed he knows he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Takk Tweeted Wednesday morning about his frustration towards the Atlanta Falcons for not trading him when they have had multiple chances to make a move.

Takk McKinley has missed four games this season and is only a situational player when healthy. He also hasn’t really lived up to expectations as an Atlanta Falcon. It’s clear that McKinley wants out, but based on his statements earlier this week, it seems that he knew the Falcons had no interest in trading him. “The Atlanta Falcons aren’t trading me. They have declined a handful of offers,” McKinley wrote on Monday.

Now McKinley is blasting the Falcons for turning down another opportunity to ship him out of Atlanta. But who is he really clowning? Takk stated in his tweet that he only has 17.5 career sacks. So in a way, he is pointing the finger at himself for being a virtual let down in Atlanta.

His point is pretty clear, however. Why wouldn’t the Falcons trade him at no cost? Well, it seems that Atlanta is hoping to get a compensation pick when Takk walks, which he’s very likely to do this upcoming offseason. Whether Takk McKinley plays the rest of the season for the falcons is now very much in question. The Falcons could very well choose to fine or suspend him for publicly calling them out on Twitter.

The trouble of it all is that Takk McKinley is not a bad player. He hasn’t been able to pile up the sack numbers and can’t seem to steer clear of injuries, but he has demonstrated that he is a talented player at times. The future for Takk McKinley in Atlanta is undetermined, but we know this much: he’s not happy.
