Blackhawks Announce Update On Jujhar Khaira After The Forward Was Knocked Unconscious On Tuesday Night

Chicago Blackhawks forward Jujhar Khaira was the subject of a scary moment at the United Center on Tuesday night.

During the second period of the game against the Rangers, Khaira was leveled when bringing the puck through the center of the ice. Immediately, it looked like he lost consciousness. And the medical team brought out the stretcher to bring him off the ice.

Jujhar Khaira was taken to a nearby hospital – where he spent the night.

Luckily, though, the Blackhawks announced on Wednesday morning that Khaira has been released from the hospital and is currently in good spirits.

“Despite the significant injury, his prognosis is excellent, and we expect a full recovery. At this point, it is too early to put a timeline on return to play,” the team said in a statement.

The Blackhawks and Rangers were clearly concerned about Jujhar Khaira following the hit by Jacob Trouba.  And the rest of the game took on a somber tone following the scary moment.

After the game, Blackhawks assistant coach Derek King spoke on the condition of Khaira.

“He’s done some tests already but he has some more tests to be done, so we won’t know the extent of the injury until after these tests. He’s still at the hospital right now, but he’s talking, he’s coherent. Scary situation to see,” he said.

It seems like Jujhar Khaira is on a long road to recovery. But I wouldn’t expect to see him back on the ice any time soon.
