Ryan Leaf On Dwayne Haskins ‘It’s Like Looking In A Mirror’

Former quarterback Ryan Leaf is one of the biggest busts in the history of professional sports. Leaf was famously drafted second overall by the San Diego Chargers. The first overall pick that year was Peyton Manning. It was said around that time that the Colts were torn between Leaf and Manning, but ended up making the right choice by a wide margin. Now Leaf is weighing in on recent NFL Draft bust Dwayne Haskins Jr.

Manning went on to win a Super Bowl in Indy, while Leaf went down a much darker path. After his career didn’t pan out, Leaf got addicted to drugs, went to prison, and battled suicidal thoughts. Luckily, Leaf is on the road to recovery now, and even uses his story to help people battling similar demons.

Ryan Leaf has weighed in on the Dwayne Haskins debate, after the first round pick by the Washington Football Team has had a dreadful start to his career. Leaf’s comments won’t make fans any more confident in Haskins.

“Listen, this is exactly what you think it is. Utter ignorance. There’s something about the brain chemistry of an elite athlete that has everything & feels slighted & hurt. You have zero impulse control, no one will tell me what I cannot do. I swear it’s like looking in a mirror!” Ryan Leaf wrote on his Twitter.

Haskins was caught on tape at a strip club without a mask on during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I think Ryan Leaf is onto something here with Dwayne Haskins, he clearly just doesn’t care anymore. It’s sad, too, because Haskins has all the talent in the world. Maybe one day he can put it together.
