Russell Wilson Sheds Light On Future During “Today Show” Appearance

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has indicated that he’d be open to a trade in the past. So after the Seahawks failed to make the postseason this year, many are wondering if the future Hall of Famer might ask his way out of Seattle.

On Tuesday, Russ and his wife, Ciara, joined together for an interview on the “Today Show”. And of course, the dynamic QB was asked about the potential for an offseason trade.

Specifically, TODAY’s Craig Melvin wanted to know if Russell Wilson would be open to joining the Washington Commanders.

ā€œIā€™m from Richmond, I know what you mean, I got people hitting me up every day, all my friends and all that from the East Coast but Seattleā€™s the place Iā€™m at right now and I love it,ā€ Wilson said.

It feels like a Russell Wilson trade this offseason remains a long shot at the moment. But the QB left the possibility on the table with his “right now” comments.

For any team with a void at QB, it would make a lot of sense to at least kick the tires on a Wilson or Aaron Rodgers possibility. But at the end of the day, each signal-caller is likely to remain right where they are.

For the Washington Commanders, they might as well make some calls to Seattle about Russell Wilson. But unless something drastic happens, I think it’s a safe bet to assume he’ll be under center for the Seahawks when the season begins.
