Robert Saleh Forgot He Was The Head Coach Of The Jets

The New York Jets got a lot of praise from their fan base when they hired 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh to replace Adam Gase as their next head coach. Saleh is expected to bring energy and passion to the head coaching position that had definitely lacked that in the past.

While things are moving fast for Saleh and the Jets this offseason, he revealed a funny story from practice this week. Saleh says that as practice was winding down he was getting ready to listen to the head coach speak to the team, but then remembered…that was him.

“I’ll give you a quick, funny story,” Saleh told reporters. “We just had our bigs out there and we were going through stuff when the horn blew for practice to be over. I started to take my normal spot behind the huddle to listen to the head coach speak when I was like ‘Oh, shoot. That’s me.’ But no, it’s been good.”

Robert Saleh has been an assistant coach for a while now, so we’ll give him a pass on this one.

It seems like everyone in the New York Jets organization (Saleh included) is learning on the fly during this rebuilding phase. While it might take some time, I think the Jets have the right guy to turn their franchise around in Robert Saleh.
