Press Conference Injury Ends French Open for Tennis Star

Another bizarre sports injury to report. After winning just one match, bad luck ended Petra Kvitova’s time at the French Open. The Czech tennis player announced on Tuesday that she’s withdrawing from Roland-Garros due to a freak ankle injury she sustained on Sunday during her post-match media conference.

“It is with great disappointment that I announce my withdrawal from Roland Garros. During my post-match press requirements on Sunday I fell and hurt my ankle. Unfortunately, after an MRI and much discussion with my team, I have made the tough decision that it would be unwise to play on it. It’s incredibly bad luck, but I will stay strong and do my best to recover in time for the grass-court season.”

The No. 11 player in the world by the WTA, won her Round 1 match against Greet Minnen.

She was all set to advance before she got injured at the presser.

Talk about one media obligation she should have not attended…
