Front-Runner Reportedly Emerging In Giants Head Coach Search

Now that the Buffalo Bills have been eliminated from the postseason, all expectations are that offensive coordinator Brian Daboll will sign on as the head coach of another team any day now.

And after Bills assistant general manager Joe Schoen signed on to be the Giants next GM, the clear link to Daboll was enough for fans to think of New York as the clear favorites to bring on Daboll as their next head coach.

Sure enough, NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported on Wednesday that Brian Daboll was, in fact, considered the “leader in the clubhouse” for the Giants gig.

Brian Daboll has worked under the likes of Nick Saban and Bill Belichick before his stint as Bills offensive coordinator. And during his time in Buffalo, he built one of the best units in the league while developing Josh Allen into a superstar.

It sure feels like a foregone conclusion that Daboll will be hired by one of the nine teams looking for a new head coach this offseason. And perhaps the Giants need to sell the offensive guru on their franchise just as much as he needs to sell them on his vision.

The Giants are stuck with a horrid roster, little cap space, and Daniel Jones as their quarterback. Adding Brian Daboll won’t turn them into contenders overnight. But maybe the young coach won’t mind taking a team through a short rebuild before building the team he wants.
