Nikita Kucherov Backs Andrei Vasilevskiy, Slams Habs Fans During Epic Interview

Nikita Kucherov and the Tampa Bay Lightning pulled off an amazing feat on Wednesday night, notching back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships.

When a shirtless Kucherov took the podium with a beer in hand after the game, he had some things to say. First off, Nikita thinks it’s absurd that Andrei Vasilevskiy didn’t win the Vezina Trophy this year or last year.

“Vasy was outstanding. MVP,” Nikita Kucherov said. “I was telling him every day, Vasy MVP. You’re the best player. And they give it to whatever the guy in Vegas, the Vezina. And last year, they gave Vezina to somebody else. No. 1 bulls—t. No. 1 bulls—t.”

As for the Habs fans? Nikita Kucherov took notice of them celebrating like they just won the Stanley Cup after Game 4.

“They acted, the fans in Montreal, like they won the Stanley Cup last game,” Kucherov said, via USA Today. “Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? Their final was last series.”

While Vasilevskiy may not have the Vezina yet, he is widely considered to be the best goalie in the NHL. And I think the Conn Smythe will hold him over just fine.

Also, I think Nikita Kucherov could have been a little easier on the Canadiens fans. They haven’t had much to celebrate in a long time.

The party is only beginning for Kucherov and the Lightning. That parade will likely be a spectacle.
