Michael Thomas Seems To Be Taking Responsibility For His Actions

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas was recently disciplined for punching teammate C.J. Gardner. After the altercation, the Saints leaked a lot of negative information about him to the media. Thomas is generally pretty well respected but, like the rest of us, he definitely has some dirty laundry. In light of everything that happened, Thomas stated that he felt like some of his words were taken out of context. As many athletes do, he took to Twitter to address the situation.

Despite his egregious actions, Michael Thomas was fined and not suspended by head coach Sean Payton per USA Today. No matter what you think Thomas deserved for what he did, he appears to be trying to take responsibility for his actions. I know, tweeting doesn’t make up for punching someone, but it’s a step in the right direction. The important thing is that Michael Thomas seems to understand that no matter how disrespected you may feel, you are responsible for your own actions.

Let’s make one thing very clear. Although Michael Thomas does have issues, he is not a cancer in the locker room. Sean Payton, along with many others in the Saints organization, fully expect Thomas to be the leader that he is when he returns to the field. We have all made some bad judgment calls. Like Michael Thomas, we have to learn to start with the man in the mirror. Isn’t that what another famous Michael once said?
