Matt Nagy Admits ‘Time Is Now’ For Chicago Bears Offense

Fair or not, we’re entering now-or-never time for Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy and his offense.

When Nagy came to the Bears prior to the 2018 season, he inherited Mitchell Trubisky as his quarterback. And while the offense ranked middle of the pack during that successful season, it has sputtered ever since. Now Chicago has moved on from Trubisky.

And the offense is going to have to prove he was the Achilles heel.

After trading up in the NFL Draft, the Bears were able to get Matt Nagy “his guy” in quarterback Justin Fields, even though the team currently has plans to start Andy Dalton at quarterback.

Regardless of who starts under center in 2021, Nagy knows that his offense is going to have to make strides.

“I think what we’ve put together — Ryan Pace has done such an amazing job of building the last three years — this roster that we have, we have a lot of depth,” Nagy said, via NBCSportsChicago.com. “And so now to be able to have the time to put together, we feel like we’re going to have a great opportunity offensively to to do what we need to do. The time is now, we know that and we’re looking forward to it.”

The Chicago Bears have pretty much ran it back with their entire offense outside the quarterback position from last season, when Trubisky and Nick Foles split time under center.

Matt Nagy was brought into Chicago as a guy who was going to fix a historically underwhelming Bears offense. And it would be really easy to pin the past three season on poor quarterback play if he’s able to do so in 2021.

The Chicago Bears went against their fan base and took a decent risk when they decided to stick with Matt Nagy as their head coach after last season. Now he has to hold up his end of the bargain.
