Lionel Messi ‘Shocked’ By Barcelona Departure, Fully Expected To Sign New Contract

The sports world was buzzing on Thursday afternoon after it was announced by Barcelona that legendary player Lionel Messi would not be returning to the club.

It was previously reported that Lionel Messi was close to agreeing to a massive new deal to stay with Barcelona. And according to a few different reports, Messi flew in to meet with Barcelona’s brass this week with the full expectation that he would be signing a new deal.

When nothing materialized, and Barcelona announced they would be moving on, Messi was left “shocked”.

Lionel Messi finished his vacation this week, and flew in to Barcelona where it’s said that he believed only minor details of a deal had to be worked out.

Evidently, those details could never be ironed out, and Messi will not be the most sought after man in soccer.

Lionel Messi has not released a statement yet, as it is being reported that he would like to wait to make a joint statement with Barca to say goodbye to all the fans who have adored him for so many years.
