Liberty’s DiDi Richards Says Her Mom ‘Loved’ Being hit on By Shaq

DiDi Richards’s mom has gotten son newfound love this past month after her daughter was drafted 17th overall by the Liberty in the WNBA Draft. Richards’s mom, Ungeanetta, was seen on the TV while DiDi was doing an interview with TNT. That’s when Shaq chimed in, calling Ungeanetta, “fine”.

When speaking during the Liberty’s media day, DiDi Richards said that her mom is enjoying all the love she has gotten since Shaq dropped that line on TV.

“My mom’s beautiful and I know that, and it’s just good to see the world take that in,” Richards told reporters via The New York Post. “She’s the face behind the face, and no one ever gets to see that. And I’m just happy that she got her little shine. She loves it. My mom loves the attention. So as long as she loves it, I love it.”

DiDi would also credit her mom with letting her be “girly”, and do her finger nails while also being a basketball player.

Richards’ return to full strength is pretty incredible, especially given that she suffered a severe spinal cord injury during a Baylor practice last fall. Her road to recovery was strenuous, but she was determined to get back, and even returned to Baylor later in the season.

“One day I could feel my toes and then the next day I couldn’t feel them,” she said about the Injury to ABC. “So it was just being able to kind of cope with [knowing] every day was subject to change — and being able to keep a positive mindset through it all.”

It seems like DiDi Richards has a long career ahead of her in the WNBA, and her mom will be along for the ride. Best of luck to DiDi in her rookie season!.
