What the f*** is Kirk Cousins talking about?

Apparently Kirk Cousins is feeling extra frisky after finally notching his first (and ever elusive) playoff win last season.

In an interview from a few weeks back that just dropped this morning, Cousins spoke like a real badass when talking about a global pandemic that has now taken over 185,000 deaths in the U.S alone.

Like a general getting ready to take his army into war, Cousins has adopted an honorable “if I die, I die” approach to the upcoming football season. Sarcasm aside, how tone deaf does Cousins have to be to not realize how this quote sounds to his teammates, fans and anyone else with a vested interest in the upcoming NFL season?

Here’s the full quote.

“I want to respect what other people’s concerns are. For me personally, just talking no one else can get the virus, what is your concern if you could get it, I would say I’m gonna go about my daily life. If I get it, I’m gonna ride it out,” Cousins said during the 10 Questions With Kyle Brandt Podcast. “I’m gonna let nature do its course. Survival-of-the-fittest kind of approach. And just say, if it knocks me out, it knocks me out. I’m going to be ok. You know, even if I die. If I die, I die. I kind of have peace about that.”

Reading the whole quote almost makes Cousins sound dumber then just the original “if I die, I die” bit that caught headlines. Survival of the fittest? Is Cousins insinuating that our elderly and neighbors with pre-existing health issues are just casualties in nature’s bigger plan?

Either way, I’d be alarmed if I was a Vikings player listening to my quarterback (who just signed a $66 Million contract extension) speak so ignorantly about this virus. I’m also not buying the whole tough guy act for a man who is known to shake in his boots any time a defensive end is bearing down on him.

No Kirk, I don’t like that. Not at all.
