J.R. Smith Out of Underwear in NBA Bubble; Tuesday Pair Worn Thursday

Add terrible packer to J.R. Smith’s long hilarious resume. In an interview with Spectrum Sportsnet, J.R. talked all things bubble life, and how he was settling in to the NBA’s bubble lifestyle. Smith shared that everything was good and “the food got a lot better. I’m playing golf every day.” The shooting guard hasn’t played in the NBA since 2018 but recently signed with the Lakers for the bubble run, replacing Avery Bradley.

Smith would share that the funniest thing he’s seen in the NBA’s bubble was “Tacko on a bike” which the host took a moment to realize he meant Tacko Fall, the 7’5″ center. Am I the only one picturing one of those tall old-timey bikes with the big wheel? What other kind of bike could Tacko possibly ride without dragging his legs behind him?

By far the funniest detail to come from the interview is that J.R. Smith is a terrible packer. When asked what he wishes he had more of in the bubble, J.R. responded “Man, more underwear and socks. Honestly, I packed like seven because I thought I’d be good for once a day.” He must have pulled up a pair with the wrong day written in the waistband. “But I ain’t calculate all the showers in between everything that I be doing, so I’ve been running through in like two, three days. We’ve got a great laundry system, though. We’ve got a great laundry system, so I’m good,” Smith would finish.

J.R. Smith making plans and failing in hilarious ways should be it’s own reality show. Can’t we just travel the word with J.R. when things like visiting other places come back? I can’t be the only one who wants to watch him try to get through customs in Bangladesh or make his way from one side of Sao Paolo to another. Where’s Ted Sarandos when you need him?

Smith went on to share a few more details about life in the bubble including a really fun sounding Madden tournament that is definitely something that should be broadcast. The Lakers are playing out a 10-team 20-week season with six of those teams making the playoffs. Smith said they plan to share things on IG Live frequently, so definitely keep an eye out.

And please, J.R.’s mom, send the guy some Fruit of the Loom.
