John Calipari Joins NCAA Coaches In Slamming Committee Over Texas A&M Snub

Kentucky head coach John Calipari isn’t afraid to speak his mind, and he was especially miffed that one team wasn’t included in the NCAA Tournament: the Texas A&M Aggies

“It’s disappointing that Texas A&M isn’t in the field, that’s a tournament team,” Calipari said on Sunday evening.

Other coaches around the NCAA also spoke out on the Aggies missing out on The Big Dance.

“The first thing I want to say is that Texas A&M deserves to be in the NCAA Tournament,” Tennessee head coach said during the post-game press conference Sunday after his Vols won the SEC title.

After being snubbed from the NCAA Tournament, the school’s AD, Ross Bjork, had some choice words for the committee.

“It doesn’t make sense,” Bjork said. “It’s hard to figure out. This a flawed selection process if we do not reward teams who deserve an opportunity. Based on how we’ve responded before, I can assure you, no one will battle with stronger fight than Texas A&M basketball and this staff (with coach Buzz Williams.)”

Much to the dismay of John Calipari, Ross Bjork and Rick Barnes, Texas A&M will now have to settle for being a #1 seed in the NIT Tournament.

Prior to the SEC Championship loss to Tennessee, the Aggies had won seven games in a row — including impressive wins against Florida, Auburn and Arkansas to reach the title game.

They’ll face Alcorn State in the first round of the NIT later in the week.
