Take that Patriots! Only an hour or so after the Patriots made big news by resigning Cam Newton, the Bucs one upped em. Tom Brady reached agreement with the Buccaneers today on a four-year contract extension that voids to a one-year extension that locks him into Tampa through the 2022 season.
The #Bucs have agreed to terms on a 1-year extension for QB Tom Brady, sources say, one that gives the Super Bowl champs some cap room and locks Brady in 2022.

I love the idea of Tom Brady agreeing to an extension on the same day the Patriots re-signed Cam Newton. Brady had to one-up Bill Belichick again. Guess who owns the news cycle now? This guy ππ» pic.twitter.com/GrJDoGIvp6

For Tom it’s all about saving his team money so they can compete for Super Bowls. The new contract will save the Bucs $19 million against the cap this upcoming year, which will allow the Bucs to keep their core as long as possible.
Leave it to Tom to push the Cam Newton signing out of the news cycle real quick.
