General Booty is Trending on Twitter

General Booty is a sports name that will be hard to top. The Division I quarterback comes from a long line of football players. His uncle John David Booty played for USC, and his grandfather was also a football player. Now it’s the General’s turn to take the spotlight.  He knows his name is what makes him stand out, but he’s going to try to change that with his play.

“Obviously my name’s an attention-grabber and people like to do headlines with it, but I like to show people with my play that I can back it up, too,” General told The Dallas Morning News. “I have done that, I’m going to continue to do that as well, and give them a reason to remember my name.”

So how did he get the name General?

When Abram was a teenager he discovered a fascination with the Army. The strategic nature of it intrigued him. At some point, when he was younger, he decided if he had a son, he was going to name him General. He told Amy after they’d been dating for a while; it wasn’t a deal-breaker. They got engaged shortly after.

They figured they’d call him by his middle name, Axel, but early on he answered only to the name General.
