Former NFL Player Says Carson Wentz Makes Chicago Bears A Super Bowl ‘Contender’

The Carson Wentz sweepstakes appears to be down to two teams — the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts. While Wentz might not be the most attractive option, both the Bears and the Colts want to fill their need at quarterback fast, and Wentz seems like he’ll be the next domino to fall in the trade market.

While most Bears fans don’t think Wentz is the answer, one analyst does. Former NFL player and current ESPN analyst Bart Scott went on “Get Up” and declared the Bears as contenders if they can land Wentz via trade.

“I know Wentz [didn’t have] the best season last year, but com’n, Mitchell Trubisky? This is a great upgrade.” Scott said on ESPN’s Get Up.

“…If he goes to Chicago, that makes Chicago, I believe, a Super Bowl contender.”

Bart Scott pointed to Carson Wentz’s offensive line as a reason for his struggles in 2020.

“You think about getting him protection,” Scott said. “This is a man who was sacked 50 times because he has nobody to throw to, he had no protection and a average run game.”

The Chicago Bears offensive line got progressively better throughout the year last season, but they’re not anything to write home about. Carson Wentz would still be asked to make “special” plays in order to pull the Bears out of mediocrity.

We’ll see what Wentz has left in the tank.
