Chicago Bears Running Back David Montgomery’s Latest Tweet Has Fans Thinking He Has Been Traded

Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery had a strong year, and appeared to solidify his spot at the teams bell-cow back for the future. That may not be the case. Montgomery posted a cryptic tweet on Wednesday afternoon that has many fans freaking out.

“Playing in Chicago has been fun and I met some great people along the way,” Montgomery tweeted out.

The tweet has left many wondering why the past tense? Has he been traded? It’s no secret the Bears are looking to acquire a quarterback via trade, but one would think that David Montgomery would be untouchable, right? Especially if the return is only a Carson Wentz or Derek Carr.

Montgomery was a pleasant surprise in 2020 for a Bears offense that didn’t have much going for them. Despite running behind a beleaguered offensive line, Montgomery finished the season with 1,070 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. He also had 438 receiving yards and two touchdown through the air.

Losing David Montgomery would be a huge blow for the Chicago Bears, and the latest tweet is causing fans to hold their breath. Hopefully it’s just a bunch of Twitter nonsense, or the tweet was just meaningless.
